No, the issuance of a pass is a manual process. When you purchase your passes online, you provide us with the visitors' details and pay the full amount. At that point, you receive a confirmation email, and we receive your information. For your passes to be issued and available, our agency must complete the process in person: reserving and paying for them directly. Additionally, if your passes qualify for a discount, we must present the required proof to the authorities in Cusco. This entire process takes time and can only be done on business days during working hours.
When our agency first started selling entrance passes to Machu Picchu, we issued them immediately after purchase because that was what most customers preferred. However, we quickly encountered an issue: Many customers later realized there were mistakes on their passes (wrong date, incorrect document number, wrong pass type, etc.), or they wanted to change the date after reconsidering their plans or due to an unforeseen situation. Some even wanted to cancel and get a refund. Since changes are impossible once passes are issued, this created complications. For this reason, we made the decisionsometimes misunderstoodto delay pass issuance. By postponing this step, we allow you to modify any details (visitors name, date, or pass type) free of charge as long as the passes have not been issued yet. Additionally, in case of cancellation, a full refund (excluding bank fees) is possible.
We receive change requests almost daily. These modifications (and, most importantly, free changes) are only possible if the passes have not yet been issued. This is precisely why we impose a delay between purchase and pass issuance. We understand that waiting for your passes can be frustrating, but this measure is solely for your convenience and helps you avoid having to purchase new passes in case of an error.
Once your passes are ready, we will send you a link via email and via WhatsApp to a PDF document containing them. Since 2021, printing the passes is no longer necessary; you can simply show them on your phone screen to the staff at the entrance to Machu Picchu. Whether you choose to print your passes or download them to your phone, you can access them anytime from our dedicated printing page: pass-machupicchu.com/$
